Everything in my life is pretty new. New friends, new roommates, new lecturers, new clothes (hehe), new bags, new priorities etc. I feel somewhat brand new.

Anyway this post is just to reassure you guys that I am still here and will be back to posting stuff soon. Thank you for sticking with me through this journey.

Grey’s Spring/Summer 2016 Collection Is All Shades Of Gorgeous

If you do follow my blog you will know that I am a student. Well exams start in a few days time and I have been super busy. This post has been saved in my drafts for weeks now but I decided to post it today. I have to get back to studying, wish me success.

For their Spring Summer 2016 collection, womenswear label Grey gives us an array of prints that is an infusion of fashion forwardness and sophistication.

In the accompanying notes, the brand states it’s inspiration and applied techniques used in compiling the collection;

Using etches of doll-like illustrations, laser cut technique, exaggerated larger-than-life bows, mix-match of colours and prints; Grey goes on it’s most explorative and adventurous foray into “the often uneven, imperfect yet inspirational stories of women both from a personal and a socio- political platform”

The lookbook consists of 3 beautiful models dressed in stylish pieces from the lineup. Striking poses alongside each other, the models give us an idea of how fluid the pieces are. They look easy to wear, chic and very relate-able for ladies who don’t go for ordinary when it comes to fashion.

The artificial flower with pink strips siting in a pot in the corner adds a certain feel to the shoot and compliments the models. Altogether, the collection is well put together and gorgeous.

Bag It! – The Dior’s Dioreva Bag

If there is a fashion brand that understands the beauty of a woman’s accessory, Dior will be among the top of the list for me. The brand encompasses everything a sophisticated and classy woman wants in her bag and more.

The new Dior bag, Diorever, is one of the bags that will get the attention of every woman with its cutting edge exterior, the signature aesthetic of a Dior bag, and structured lines with a touch of urban beauty.

It’s simple outlook with a crest-shaped clasp, with an optional shoulder strap makes the bag perfect bag for the week and can be swapped as a weekend accessory.

There are three sizes mini, medium and large and each comes with an optional shoulder strap. The mini starts at $2,950, medium at $3,400 and large at $3,900.

From Milan Fashion Week – Favourite Street Style Picks

Milan Fashion Week has come to an end for this cycle and while we enjoyed seeing the Fall 2016 collections from some of our favorite European designers; Giorgio Armani, Missoni, Versace, Prada to name a few, my attention was also on the images from the streets of Milan as residents and visitors to MFW showcased their style.

And there was lots to see! From neutral to bright and bold colours, prints, fur, blazers, leather, lace, sequins, denim, satchels, fringing, pom poms and more fashionable details there was plenty to please the eye and see up inspiration.

Here are some of my favourite street style looks from Milan Fashion Week.

NYFW FALL/WINTER 2016 – DELPOZO’S DRAMATICS

Madrid based “prêt-à-porter” fashion label Delpozo’s creative director Josep Font, was inspired by nature and art in his Fall/Winter 2016 collection which he presented at New York Fashion Week .

Looking at the runway photos, I fell in love with the pieces. The colours are bold and the designs are very structured and defined. It might take a big fan of fashion to pull off these outfits, but you do not need sartorial knowledge to love and appreciate these looks.

Spotted in the collection are nappa leather opera gloves, 3D adorned with a riot of leather appliqué, dramatic dresses with architectural designs, bell coats tied at the shoulders in bows, structured gowns juxtaposed with sculptural geometry, come together for an rich, interesting collection with a feminine edge.

By far one of my favourite collections this season.

WHAT WAS SHE THINKING? – DENCIA IN HELLO KITTY

No one knows what Dencia was thinking when she showed up at the Grammy 2016 red carpet in a fully bejeweled Hello kitty pajamas onesie and her enormous  blonde Afro.

What was she thinking - Dencia

She completed the look with an embellished, spiked platform heels with pink stockings, pink cat eye glasses, pink leather gloves and Hello Kitty bows in her hair and actual plush Hello Kitty dolls on the onesie.

I could not ignore the huge extra-large pearl that sat on her chest.

She has always been so dramatic with her style when she hits the red carpets, like she has a deeply rooted need for her outfit to be talked about because of their outrageousness.  So we are not surprised about the fact she topped been the worst dressed for the night one more time.

RITA ORA & ADIDAS UNVEIL FIRST COLLABORATION OF 2016

Heyyy.

Its Friday and since I find myself making another shoe post on a Friday, I think I am going to make it a thing. I am going to come up with a cool name for it. Stay tuned to find out.

Now onto the business of the day. British Singer and Adidas favourite Rita Ora has unveiled her first collaboration of 2016. The Brand has announced that they would launch a collection called Asian Arena. The new line will be hitting stores on the 6th of February which is tomorrow.

The collection which is informed by the allure of the Japanese geisha offers street style kicks that  “are boldly restructured as a nod to the wide arms of the classic kimono and the origami-esque structure of the obi,” Adidas said in a statement.

Exotic prints of Oriental landscapes and other graphic touches are fused into the sneakers creating fashionable looks with boosts. Consisting of high tops, sporty trainers and the classic Stan Smiths in bright red, we certainly cannot wait for this collection to hit the stores.

Take a look.

#TSQUARED2016 – THE FULL STORY BY NOBLE IGWE

So during the weekend Award Winning OAP Toolz Oniru tied the knot with her lover Cpt. Tunde Demuren and it was beautiful. I wasn’t able to attend the wedding myself because of school but I kept myself informed through eye witnesses and instagram.

Noble Igwe of Style Vitae was there along with tons of other celebrities and this is what he has to say:

Life’s fun depends on your choices but one thing is certain; the older you get, you begin to more selectively choose to celebrate and what not to.

A few years ago, we were all about celebrating big birthday parties until #SLAM2014 when Olamide got tired of sneaking around Segi’s house and put a ring on it.

First of all, we didn’t expect Olams to be the first to join Uncle Segs in the respectable Marriage Club not because he was the youngest but because Olams didn’t paint the picture of someone that was ready but then I have come to realize that with these things you don’t really prepare for it, it just hits you and you just follow. Its like falling in love with small chops, you can’t say the first time you started liking it, you only just realized that you started craving it more.

We were scared not ready not because we were not old enough but because to some of us, marriage is like the MBA of adulthood and once you get to that stage in Igboland, you are automatically ready to contest for a position in your village progressive union. I wasn’t ready to join Umuomaku progressive union. I’ve even heard they don’t drink palm wine during their annual meeting.

I know some of you are just here to know what happened at Toolz and Tunde’s Engagement ceremony, hang on; we’ll get there but it wouldn’t be a complete story if I don’t start from the very beginning.

Back to Olams.

He put a ring on it, informed us and we were excited for him even though I think Segs was more excited because finally one of us had decided to jump the broom and join the “exeat” requesting club.

#SLAM2014 happened to be my first time of dobale-ing and I totally loved it. It was our first ABE wedding and we made sure we had so much fun supporting one of our own.

Olams leaving the gang encouraged Ebuka to cross to the other side and shortly after, we took Palm wine and Akupe to Neni to marry Cynthia. We took Cynthia back with us to Okija and threw one of the maddest parties east of the Niger.

With Olams & Ebuka out of the hard school of singlehood, it opened the door to “When will you marry?” commenters and when we were about to crown Tunde the leader of the new group of the remaining singles, he left Banky & I.

The date was set and we were all ready for January 30th to support yet another one of us leaving the singles club.

I digress, this is not the story you really want to read but I promise you, if you keep reading, I’ll get to the point and I promise to tell it all as it happened.

On Saturday, Tunde asked his family and friends to assemble at Hard Rock café for pre drinks, pictures and bants before walking over to Landmark for the engagement proper.

I got there on time dressed fully in my Agbada finishing off the look with my walking stick. Within minutes more people arrived and the restaurant was filled with people in Agbada with their filas bent in different ways.

At about 12:15 I saw them pulling in and like everyone else, we didn’t know the events of the day was going to turn out the way they did.

The moment they drove in, I recognized them because Kunle was driving with Banky in the passenger seat and Tunde siting at the back like the badass groom.

Greetings and a general photographs done, we settled inside the café for drinks and finger food. New friends were formed over finger food and even though Tunde was nervous, he had his best friends and family beside him.

12:15pm quickly moved to 4pm and when we were called in, we moved quickly to landmark with Ebuka fanning Tunde with his akupe, my walking stick dancing above his head and his goons dancing behind him. It was the an entourage close to what Eddie Murphy’s father had the first time he arrived America.

Entourage Dancing the Groom in

We dobaled but then Tunde stayed a bit longer on the ground as a sign of respect to his father-in-law. I think that was cool and the smile from the father-in-law confirmed his approval of that act of respect.

Once Tunde sat on the chair reserved for the groom and bride, we knew it time to move to space reserved for us at the lounge.

With a drink in hand, I watched the beautiful bride dance in with friends, take pictures with her dad and in-laws, then go up to sit beside the groom.

Speeches were made, prayers said and then King Sunny Ade introduced the music for the Naira rain. KSA played like he wasn’t going to stop until he noticed that DJ Xclusive was on standby. Xclsive Took over from KSA and played until 12:01 with an Olamide performance in between.

Music went on until the sound engineer turned off his equipment forcing us to go home early Sunday morning.

It was a good evening and we missed Peter Bello.

I know you wanted to read the full story, I’m glad I served it hot.

Happy Married Life Tunde & Tolu.

DICE KAYEK INSPIRED BY FAIRY TALES FOR SPRING COUTURE SHOW

First of all let me add that I absolutely love this collection.

Ece Ege was all about structures and flair at the Spring Summer Paris Couture show. The creative designer of Dice Kayek intrigued me with the brands presentation of structural and yet simplistic form.

Her favorite form of literature was fairy tale and she called this the source of inspiration for this collection, reciting Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan and Little Red Riding Hood backstage during the show.

Cropped tops with maxi puff sleeves and extra-bouncy skirt, double breasted coats, sculpted bottoms, tailored pants, frilled hems were part of the offerings for this collection.
